Extra Info:
S. steinbachii var. taratensis has been found near the road Tarata to Izata and between Anzaldo to Acasio as well as in the whole area around Anzaldo. All the known location are above 3000 m some of them up to 3500 m. While the populations between Tarata and Izata display a multitude of diffently coloured flowers, all the other finds usually only have violet flowers. Rausch puts his R671 (pojoniensis) to S.cochabambina, but it appears to be a form of S. taratensis. Knize sent many collected plants from this area to Europe. Some of them labeled with curious names. From these plants Brandt described a W. ansaldoensis and W. minima which are S. steinbachii v. taratensis. To my knowledge there is no confirmed Cárdenas-material.
