The typical Sulcorebutia steinbachii v. markusi (R195, G190, He119, RH827) has been found on top of the hill north of Vila Vila. Most other collections attributed to this taxon come from the slopes of this mountain ridge between Vila Vila and Sivingani differing considerably from the type.
