This type of plants only grows very locally near the pass of the Cerro Chataquila. Only one hundred meters from the pass, one can find S. vasqueziana ssp. losenickyana (G145), as well as on both slopes of the mountain (G41, G146-G149). There were always discussions if this was a sensible taxon. As mentioned under S. vasqueziana ssp. alba such plants can often be found among other S. vasqueziana all over the distribution area of this species between Sucre and Ravelo.
