Extra Info:
S. torotorensis grows very numerously anywhere around Torotoro. The town is situated in 2700 m and therefore Cárdenas´ indication of 2000 m is incorrect. We found S. torotorensis without significant differences up to 3400 m. Above 3000 m sometimes S. verticillacantha v. cuprea shares the habitats with S. torotorensis. S. torotorensis also populates the riverbanks of Rio San Pedro and Rio Caine between Poroma and Carasi.
